The Coffee Residence

An addition and renovation of a 1930s era home for a couple with 4 children. The addition blends with the existing, but is introduces some more modern playful elements. The everyday flow of the home was redesigned to make it more practical.

The family room, adjacent to the kitchen and with new stairs to the upper level, was designed to be a cozy, fun, well-lit center of the home. The stone fireplace with built-in cabinets was designed to recall a earlier home of the owner.

The owners are fond of Prarie style and furnished the addition accordingly to match the woodwork. The man of the house did much of the finish work himself.

I am particularly proud that I was able to squeeze enough space out of the existing house for the little guy looking back in the photo to have his own bedroom.
